Aynsley Orchard Gold Creamer and Sugar Bowl, Signed D. Jones. Vintage English Bone China with Fruit and Heavy Gold Gilt.

This is a beautiful matched Aynsley creamer and open sugar bowl in the treasured Orchard Gold pattern. Both pieces are lavishly decorated with ripe orchard fruit on a soft buttercream ground shaded with mossy greens and warm browns. The creamer shows glossy purple plums, blushing peaches, pink grapes, and green leaves. The sugar bowl features plums, pale green grapes, blackberries, and raspberries.

What makes this pair so striking is the gold. Both interiors are fully gilded and glow when light hits them. The creamer has a scrolled gold handle and a wavy gold rim, and both pieces rest on wide gold foot bands.

The Orchard Gold pattern was made by printing a fine outline and then finishing it by hand in enamel colors, which gives each piece its depth and painterly look. The sugar bowl is signed "D. Jones" for Doris Jones, one of Aynsley's best-known decorators, whose signed pieces are sought after by collectors. The creamer is signed by D. Jones as well.

This pair would be lovely on a tea table, displayed in a china cabinet, or given to a collector of Aynsley or English fruit china. It also pairs beautifully with other Orchard Gold pieces.
