This is aExtra Largesize unframed woodcut print of a Crocodile wearing a floral headdress and earrings.The title of this print is "Princesa Caiman Madre del Rayo y el Trueno" or "Caiman Princess, Mother of Lightning and Thunder".This woodcut is done in Black ink on a Cream Color paper with details hand tinted in Pastel Colors.It was createdby a very talented artist by the name of Gabriel Angel Perez working in Aguascalientes, but he is originally fromOaxaca Mexico and is of Zapotec descent. His work is derived from sacred rituals and spiritual moments taken from Zapotec Culture. Recently his work was included in a small exhibition at the Columbian Embassy in Columbia and in January of next year he will be in an exhibition at the Museum of Oaxacan Painters. In addition to his own prints, Gabriel teaches woodcut printing to children in rural areas in an effort to keep this style of artwork alive in future generations.
