The abbreviation "M.C.R.R." stamped on the lower jaw indicates that this specific tool was owned by and property of the Michigan Central Railroad (or less frequently, the Maine Central Railroad).

Founded in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1840, Bemis & Call was one of the premier tool manufacturers in the United States. They were later acquired by Billings & Spencer in 1939.
The "MCRR" Stamp:
Major nineteenth and early twentieth-century railroad lines heavily stamped their tools to inventory them and deter theft. These rugged, heavy-duty adjustable wrenches were an essential piece of equipment for engineers and maintenance crews working on steam locomotives and tracks.
