The four scripts are serially numbered, with the highest number showing a date of 25*X*87 - or October 25, 1887. (The century-old prescriptions were often not dated at all, but when dated, it was most common for them to use the convention of Day/Month/Year, and for month, to often use the Roman Numeral, so here \"X\" is the tenth month, October.)43509 - Morphine

43612 - dated 25.X.87 (October 25, 1887)43612 was written by Dr. Med. N. Hegnauer for Rev. Grabinger. It appears (based on this, and other prescriptions I\'ve seen by this doctor) that Dr. Hegnauer signed his prescriptions with a stylized cursive letter \"H,\" as is shown here, and other times with the abbreviated form \"DrHgr\" in stylized cursive.Rev. James Grabinger came to Brenham, Texas, in 1885. He established St. Stanislaus in Chappel Hill, Texas, as a mission of Brenham.Dr. Med. N. Hegnauer = \"Dr. Med.\" was a title (i.e., \"Doctor of Medicine). \"N\" is most likely the first initial of his first name, but I have been unable to find any biographical information. The pink prescription has a preprinted name & address for a pharmacy in Galveston, Texas, suggesting that the doctor prescribed medication for patients in both Brenham and Galveston.The prescriptions are approximately 4\" x 5.5\". I often frame prescriptions like this in standard 4x6\" frames, but I\'m listing some sets \"unframed\" so I can offer them at lower prices, with slightly lower shipping fees.
