This is a beautiful set of 2 traditional Kumano calligraphy brushes made by Gyokushindo (玉信堂製筆) in Kumano, Hiroshima, Japan.
I purchased these brushes directly from Gyokushindo in Japan.
Gyokushindo is a traditional brush maker located in Kumano, Hiroshima, an area famous for Japanese brush craftsmanship. Their brushes are carefully handmade by skilled brush artisans using traditional techniques.
The handles are decorated with the Japanese characters “松竹梅” (Sho-Chiku-Bai), meaning Pine, Bamboo, and Plum — three traditional symbols associated with good fortune and celebration in Japan.
