Atlantic City Seaside House Hotel China Small Platter 1909 Era
Offered is a very rare 8 inch wide, 5 and 3/4th inch tall wide small serving platter made for the Seaside House resort hotel that was located on the Boardwalk on the Atlantic Ocean in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The \"F.P. Cook\'s & Son\" inscription on the logo of the platter is that of the hotel\'s owner / proprietor. They had control of the hotel from 1909 up through 1929. The platter was made by the Maddock China Co. and has their \"Lamberton China\" backstamp. It is the heavyweight type steamship, restaurant, and railroad china. It would\'ve been used in connection with the Seaside House hotel silver soldered / silver plate and glassware for actual dining room and private room service.

Historically, the Seaside House was located on Pennsylvania Avenue directly on the Boardwalk. The first Seaside House opened in 1861 and closed in 1892. The second Seaside House hotel, which is where this platter was made and used at, was a very elaborate five story 125 room hotel built in 1883 and operated until the 1950\'s. Interestingly, there was obviously a need for a second Seaside House hotel, as it was built directly behind the 1883 hotel in 1927. This hotel was much bigger with 10 floors and 300 rooms. Both operated at the same time until the 1883 hotel closed in 1950.
