RPPC Decorah Iowa Flood Damage Rock Island Bridge at Trout Run Cement Pier Washed Out
Original real photo postcard showing a flood-damaged railroad bridge, believed to be from the Decorah, Iowa / Winneshiek County area. The image shows a damaged Rock Island railroad bridge over water, with the track/bridge structure broken and displaced. A large cement pier or abutment has been torn out, leaving the bridge partially collapsed and the surrounding creek bed washed out.
The reverse bears a period handwritten note, appearing to read:
“Rock Island Bridge at Trout Run. Notice how the water tore out the cement pier.”
This is a strong early flood-disaster railroad RPPC, showing serious bridge damage after high water or flood conditions. The image captures the destroyed pier, exposed bridge structure, waterway, debris, and washed-out ground, making it an excellent local-history and railroad-disaster view.

The postcard has an AZO stamp box, dating the real photo postcard stock generally to the early 20th century, approximately real photo postcard. Unused and not postally mailed. General age toning, surface wear, light spotting, and soiling. Noticeable discoloration and foxing on the reverse, including several brown/orange stains. Image side has some toning, light spotting, edge wear, and small corner and edge imperfections. Reverse has period handwritten identification. Please see photos for full condition details.
