Antique & Vintage Photographs EST. 1998 Sirdar Thames Sailing Barge Match Under Sail 1964 Photo
This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 2¼ x 2¼ inches (60x60mm).
It shows the Thames sailing barge \'Sirdar\' under full sail on open water, heeling slightly as she makes a bow wave. The name \'Sirdar\' is handwritten in blue ink on the white border below the image. She carries the barge\'s typical spritsail rig with topsail and foresail, a jib set from the bowsprit and a small mizzen at the stern. A figure stands on deck amidships, and a low shoreline is visible on the horizon to the left. The photograph was taken from another vessel, with that boat\'s wash visible in the foreground.
The reverse has handwritten notes in blue ink reading \'51i\', \'1350\', \'Thames Match\' and \'24.6.64\'.
