Vintage MSA W65 Self-Rescuer Carbon Monoxide Respirator – Mining Safety EquipmentThis is a MSA W65 Filter Self Rescuer, the classic stainless steel carbon monoxide escape respirator once carried by underground miners. It was designed as a one-time emergency device that converts toxic CO into CO₂ using a hopcalite catalyst.Condition:
- Solid stainless steel case with normal wear, scratches, and surface marks consistent with age and underground use
- Red paint on the latch is worn and chipped
- Residual label residue on the front
- Handwritten marking “Pm 42” in the recessed plate
- Bottom stamped “W65 SELF RESCUER” with codes DN5768 / 1029 and “DATE PUT IN SERVICE” fields
- MSA logo embossed on the top
- Belt clip/loop present and intact
- Case closes and latches properly
