ORIGINAL RUSSIAN EMPIRE CABINET PHOTOGRAPH
Rare original antique cabinet photograph showing TWO YOUNG FOLK MUSICIANS posing with their musical instruments — a BALALAIKA and an elaborate BUTTON ACCORDION / GARMON.
The photograph was produced by the studio of N. P. BURDAEV in YURYEV-POLSKY, then part of the Vladimir Governorate of the Russian Empire.
RUSSIAN FOLK MUSICIANS
The two young men are shown seated together in the photographer\'s studio. One holds a traditional Russian BALALAIKA, while the second poses with a large, highly decorative button accordion.
Of particular interest, the maker\'s inscription is visible directly on the accordion and identifies it as a product of:
“Гармонная фабрика И. А. Дьякова — Тула”
“Accordion Factory of I. A. Dyakov — Tula.”
TULA was one of the major historical centers of Russian accordion and garmon manufacture, making the clearly visible maker\'s identification an especially interesting detail of this photograph.
The accordion itself is exceptionally well shown, with numerous buttons, decorative fittings, bellows and its original factory inscription clearly visible.

The original mount is marked:
“Н. П. Бурдаевъ — Юрьевъ-Польскій”N. P. Burdaev — Yuryev-Polsky
The elaborate illustrated studio advertisement on the reverse features cherubs, an artist\'s palette and a row of exhibition medals.
The reverse also states:
“Фирма существует с 1877”“The firm has existed since 1877.”
Yuryev-Polsky was a historic town in the Vladimir Governorate of the Russian Empire.
