Offered for sale is an original c1910 U.S. Military Academy at West Point tobacco leather from the L40 College Pennant, Yell & Emblem series.
This large-format tobacco premium measures approximately 3.5” × 2.5” and features an embossed West Point / Army design.
The leather features a large “A” pennant, the traditional Army mule mascot, a military emblem, and an early West Point school yell prominently incorporating “WEST POINT.”
The combination of the school pennant, yell and mascot/emblem identifies this design with the L40 College Pennant, Yell & Emblem series.
This is an especially interesting early piece of West Point and Army athletic memorabilia, dating from the early era of organized intercollegiate sports.
Condition: Original antique condition with age-related surface wear, toning, spotting and edge/corner wear. The silver-colored surface shows areas of wear and oxidation/discoloration consistent with age. Despite the more subdued coloration, the embossed A pennant, West Point yell, mule and surrounding design remain clearly visible.
No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.
