Austin Sculpture puts steel armature or supports into the mold and then mixes the Durastone (a special formulation of crushed stone) into a slurry which is then poured into the mold. After the mold hardens it is removed from the mold & placed in a heated chamber for 48 hours to achieve optimum hardness and readies the sculpture for its finish or patina. Each sculpture has the patina hand-applied by skilled artisans before being waxed and buffed.
